About
I studied Computer Engineering at Queen's, then spent[FILL: ~4] years at AMD working on the AMDGPU display driver in the Linux kernel — Display Stream Compression, DisplayPort MST, the code that lights up screens on every major Linux distribution. Upstream kernel work teaches you a particular discipline: your code is reviewed in public, runs on hardware you'll never see, and failure is a black screen on someone else's desk.
In [FILL: year] I co-founded Minebright with a geologist. We build the software mining operations actually run on: production reconciliation, drilling shift logs, FIFO crew logistics, site clinics, payroll — and lately, LLM pipelines that read NI 43-101 technical reports so analysts don't have to. I write the code, deploy it, and then go train the crews using it, whether that's a drilling contractor in Burkina Faso or an operator in Kazakhstan.
I like software that has to survive contact with the real world.
